Eldredge Releases Walker's
Promise

the long awaited novel, Walker's Promise. The story is set in
Kamas Valley, Utah in 1942. Walker Young and

spends a week at Camp Steiner where he encounters the ghost of a famous
Indian chief, and that's where the adventure begins!
"Camp Steiner was actually closed in 1942," remarked Eldredge. "But I
thought it would be fun to open it up for Walker," he con-tinued. "Camp
Steiner has been a summer retreat for thousands
of Utah Boy Scouts for 75 years, and it's the perfect setting for this
adventure."
The plot includes Indian spirits, Spanish mines, and mysterious ancient

Mill Creek
Press Unveils Spring/Summer Lineup
February 1, 2007 -
Salt Lake City, UT - Mill Creek Press unveiled a list of five books it plans
to publish in the next six months. Leading the list is Shuisheng, The
Mallard by Chen Likai out of Cangzhou, China where he has taught
English at the middle school level, and at Hebei Engineering and Technical
College for the past twenty years. Mr. Chen has written a wonderful fantasy
tale about a Mallard who travels south, encountering old Chinese legends
along the way. His excellent command of the English language makes this book
a must read for young an old alike.
Meredith I. "Andy"
Anderson next weighs in with his true-to-life novel More Than A Job, An
Adventure about serving in the Navy in the Pacific in the 1960s. It's
wonderfully written, and is equally entertaining for Navy men and women, and
land-lubbers alike.
Denver C. Snuffer,
Jr. continues his rich exploration into the depth and fabric of LDS beliefs
with his third book, Eighteen Verses that promises to be just as
enlightening as his first two books.
Finally, rounding
out the books to be published, are two long-awaited novels by Mike Eldredge.
Walker's Promise is a young adult adventure that takes place in
Kamas, Utah in the summer of 1942. Ahriman's Light is a suspenseful
thriller, in the same genre of The DaVinci Code, that takes place in
Europe immediately after World War II and involves the esoteric "Spear of
Destiny." It won a First Place Award at the 2006 Hollywood Book Festival
featuring books that would make excellent movies.
Sales Exceeding
Expectations
December 28, 2006
- Salt Lake City, UT - Mill Creek Press announced today that fourth quarter
book sales were on track to be the largest increase in Company history.
Shades of Gray is following the norm for Amazon.com sales by increasing
gradually every month. "Unlike bookstore sales where the shelf life of a
book averages four months and you have a brief spike in sales, Amazon.com
sales typically have steady growth every month," said Mike Eldredge, General
Manager of the Salt Lake based micro-publisher. "Since Deseret Book has the
exclusive right to promote the book [Shades of Gray], Mill Creek
Press takes a secondary position. However, BookSurge [a subsidiary of
Amazon.com], maintains the right to sell on Amazon.com. Amazon sales started
picking up in December 2005, and by year end 2006, total sales will exceed
1,250 books," he commented. "And that's with little promotion at all on
Amazon other than word of mouth."
But as successful
as Shades of Gray has been, nothing compares with the phenomenal
success of The Second Comforter by Denver C. Snuffer, Jr. Now it
appears that Snuffer's second book, Nephi's Isaiah will follow suit.
"Mr. Snuffer's books have easily quadrupled the sales of Shades, and
it appears that each month's growth in sales is exponential," remarked
Eldredge. Mr. Snuffer announced last May that he wouldn't advertise The
Second Comforter, and simply make the book available to anyone
interested in the subject.. Similarly, no promotion of Nephi's Isaiah
is contemplated. Mr. Snuffer is working on his third book which is due out
in the spring. "We're certainly not in the range of a typical trade
publisher that releases nationwide, but for a micro-publisher, Mill Creek
Press certainly has held it's own, and it looks like 2006 will be a very
profitable year," said Eldredge.
Snuffer to
publish Second Book
November 14, 2006
- Salt Lake City, UT - Mill Creek Press announced today the pending release
of Nephi's Isaiah: A Prophetic Look at the Latter Days By Denver C.
Snuffer, Jr. The second book by the popular LDS author, Nephi's Isaiah
is a companion to his earlier book, The Second Comforter: Conversing with
the Lord Through the Veil.
This book is a
tour through prophecies directly speaking to the latter-days in which we
live. Sometimes alarming, sometimes com-forting, always informing; this bold
discussion of Nephi’s meanings is unlike anything you have read on the
subject before.
The book is set to
release on December 1, in time for the Christmas season. Both The Second
Comforter and Nephi's Isaiah are available at Sam Weller's Zion
Book Store in Salt Lake City, or may be ordered directly online at
Amazon.com.
Eldredge
Receives Second Quill Award
September 16, 2006
- Orem, UT - The League of Utah Writers has awarded the Quill Award with
Diamond to Michael S. Eldredge for the second year in a row for the
Non-Fiction Publication, My Life and the Winter Games: A Volunteer's
Story. The announcement was made at the annual Roundup Dinner held at
Christ Evangelical Church in Orem. Also receiving special recognition was
Robin Lynn Pratt for Take Ten: Meditations for the Hurried Parent,
and Betty J. Vickers for her Jour-nalism Portfolio.
"I'm deeply
honored," Eldredge said later, "especially with the high caliber of entrants
this year." Mary Barnes, the Publications Chair who oversees the Quill
Awards, remarked, "It's highly unusual for this award to go to the same
person two years in a row because the competition is so outstanding each
year." She added that for subsequent awards, the League awards a diamond on
the Quill Award pin.
My Life and the Winter Games
is the story of how the Winter Games have influenced the life of an
enthusiastic fan, culminating in his chance to participate as a volunteer
for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, a once-in-lifetime experience. From
his ear-liest recollections of the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck,
Eldredge traces events in his life that coincided with each Winter Games
over the last 40 years. He then describes his experiences from the day that
Salt Lake City won the bid (June 16, 1995), through the reconstruction of
Interstate I-15, the painful scandal, the horrors of 9/11, and finally the
monumental effort to put on the Winter Games of 2002.
The book is available at
Amazon.com, and is sold locally by Sam Weller's Zion Bookstore.
Local Author
Invites Hurried Parents to “Take Ten”
August 15, 2006 - Salt Lake City, UT - Local author, Robin Lynn Pratt, has
just published Take Ten: Meditations for the Hurried Parent, a portal to
some of the poignant moments in parenting that often get lost in a tight
schedule.
“For a busy parent, it can be a challenge to slow down and enjoy being in
the moment with our children,” says Pratt, mother of two boys, freelance
writer, and long-time Salt Lake resident. Take Ten illuminates the joy,
frustration, humor and self-discovery in the often-hectic world of
parenting.
The author is originally from California, where she earned degrees in
psychology and business. She began freelance writing after quitting work to
spend more time with her husband and their sons. Pratt has been a freelance
writer since 1995, writing about education, health care, and parenting
issues. Her work has been published in regional and national magazines, on

Ahriman's Light Wins at Hollywood Book Festival
July 10,
2006 - Hollywood, CA - The Hollywood Book Festival has selected Mike Eldredge's
new book, Ahriman's Light as winner of the Unpublished Stories category
in the its 2006 awards honoring books that deserve greater recognition from the
film, television, game and multimedia communities. It was announced before a
packed house at the Tangier restaurant in Hollywood on Saturday evening.
Among the evening’s highlights was a reading by author, actress and musician
Pamela Des Barres, best known for her top-selling book, "I’m With The Band."
Ahriman's Light is an historical novel set in 1945 in post-war Europe,
and is about the mysterious "Spear of Destiny" and it's eventual return to
Austria in January 1946. "It's a work that stands out for its originality and
superb writing," according to the judging panel, "it has a real shot at a
multimedia future." "Ahriman's Light is a fast-moving, suspenseful
thriller, just what Hollywood's looking for," read one of the judge's comments.
The judging panel rated the entries on the story-telling ability of the author,
and the potential of the work to be translated into other forms of media.
The Hollywood Book Festival judging panel included film director Richard
Martini; TV writer/author Ethlie Ann Vare; talent agent/author Nancy Rainford;
Variety/Entertainment Weekly critic Steve Mirkin; KPFK radio personality/critic
Maria Armoudian; and Bruce Haring, DIY Convention founder and author.
Mike Eldredge was surprised and elated with the announcement. "Ahriman's
Light originally started out as a screenplay, but I decided to write the
book first when Dan Brown published The DaVinci Code based on the 1983
publication Holy Blood Holy Grail. It seems the esoteric genre of books
is doing well," he said in an interview Monday.
Ahriman's Light is scheduled for release later this year by Mill Creek
Press.
'The Second Comforter' Released
May 19, 2006 - Salt Lake City, UT -
Mill Creek Press announced the release of
The Second Comforter: Conversing with the Lord Through the Veil, by
Denver C. Snuffer, Jr. this afternoon. "We've been swamped with inquiries the
last few days. I'm amazed at the excitement this book has generated," remarked
Mike Eldredge. "Right now, the paperback book is available through a link on our
website, and shortly it will be up on Amazon.com. It will be two weeks before
the hard cover edition is out."
Mill Creek Press publishes its POD editions through BookSurge, a subsidiary
of Amazon.com, so listing on the giant online bookstore is automatic. "We plan
to distribute the book through several local book-stores and other retail
outlets," said Eldredge, "That's the beauty of toner-based printing. You can
carry your book through POD channels, while at the same time self-distribute the
book with PQN volume pricing. It's the best of both worlds."
Mill Creek Press is located in Salt Lake City, UT, and has published four
titles in less than two years. The micro-publisher plans to release three more
titles this year.
Mill Creek Press to Publish 'The Second Comforter'
March 31, 2006 -
Salt Lake City, UT - Mill Creek Press has announced the pending release of
The Second Comforter: Conversing with the Lord Through the Veil, by
Denver C. Snuffer, Jr. on Friday. Mill Creek Press revealed it was publishing the much-anticipated book
for the first time on the eve of the 176th General Conference of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"It's a marvelous book... well worth the wait," remarked Michael S. Eldredge,
general manager of the Salt Lake based micro-publisher. "Denver has written an
exceptional work that is destined to be a classic in Mormon theology."
Rumor of the book first started surfacing late last year while the manuscript
circulated among LDS publishers. Due to the sensitive nature of the Second
Comforter, Mr. Snuffer elected not to undertake a massive marketing effort, but
instead to make a quiet release, and
to make it available only on Amazon.com. "I didn't write this book to make
money," Mr. Snuffer said in a recent interview, "I desire it published for those
few who want read it. Amazon has hundreds of thousands of books available to
readers. To find The Second Comforter, people will have to search.
Those who want to read the book will know what they're looking for, and
shouldn't have any problem finding it. And the rest should not notice that it
exists."
This highly readable book deals with a topic which many Latter-day Saint
readers in particular should find interesting. This is the first book written
devoted solely to the subject, and should appeal to anyone interested in the
subject.
The book is currently set for release in late May.

Shades of Gray Set to Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 25, 2004 - Salt Lake City, UT - Michael S. Eldredge announced Tuesday that the official release date for Shades of Gray would be August 31, 2004. He picked the date to coincide with the last day of peace before Germany invaded Poland 65 years ago.
Shades of Gray is the story of Art Naujoks who became caught up in World War II as a German soldier.
All through the war, he turns to his steadfast faith to see him through seemingly impossible odds. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Art had grown up in a hostile environment of jeers and laughter. Yet when the time came, he answered the call to duty. He, like his fellow members of the Aaronic Priesthood, faithfully responded when told to do so by the law of the land. Most paid with their lives, and only a few survived.
This is the remarkable story of survival on the Eastern Front against almost impossible odds. Time after time he was tested; from frozen legs during the retreat at Stalingrad, to his head injury at the fierce battle on the Ukrainian Front, to freezing temperatures in the last retreat from Poland. In the end, Art survived the war, as did every member of his family.
"I'm sure Art would have liked to have seen this day personally, but he did have the satisfaction of completing this work," Eldredge said. Art Naujoks died on his 55th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2002.
