Jill Ammon Vanderwood is the mother of four and the

grandmother of six. Born and raised in the state of Oregon, she was the third of eleven children. She now makes her home in Utah, with her husband Bill.

Growing up, she enjoyed reading about children going on

magical adventures. Her favorite books were those by Edward Eager. "When my children were young, I made up songs for them. Now that I have grandchildren, I write stories using their names," says Jill.

Like her character, Grandma Emma, Jill loves going on adventures. She recently spent the night with two granddaughters at a dinosaur museum. "We slept right under the tail of a huge dinosaur."
